Somalia’s national basketball team coach, Mr Saadaq Haji has been named the new Secretary General of the Somalia Basketball Federation. Mr Haji has been working with Somali players overseas through his program SYDOM. He was also the coach of Somalia’s squad at the Africa City Challenge tournament in Nairobi back in 2017. His experience and understanding of the game will be helpful to Somalia’s basketball especially the younger generation. All eyes are on him to refocus the limelight on Somalia’s basketball.
Somalia has been known to have great talent especially in shooting the basketball and with the great leadership of Haji, we might see more. Basketball in east Africa is taking shape and the competition is indeed going to toughen with a well prepared Somalia team.
