Breast Cancer Awareness Month(BCAM) also known as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.
It was founded in 1985 in October as a partnership between the American Cancer Society and Pharmaceutical Division of Imperial Chemist Industries.
The aim of NBCAM is to promote mammography as the most effective weapon to fight against breast cancer.
Everlyn Lauder founded the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and established the Pink Ribbon as its symbol.
A variety of events around the world are organized in October including walks, runs and the pink illumination of landmark buildings. We at Th3 Dr-R are using a pink theme as we enlighten everyone more about breast cancer. Male breast cancer which is rare and generally overlooked is presented in a man’s pink and is globally established to the 3rd week of October as Male Cancer Awareness Week.
