Basketball Showtime is finally here. The 2021 playoff matches are set to start in less than a fortnight’s time. The league has run for 5 months, showcasing great talents, skill and basics, stretching will,
experience, athleticism and resilience. New upsets and rivalries have come up. All eyes are on the matchups leading to the title and the bragging rights that come with it.

The federation, through Fixture Secretary, Mr. Amoko, has asserted that all is set for the playoffs.

“The executive met last week and deliberated on the playoffs, the stage is ready.”

He hinted on a committee in place to look into possible sponsors for the league finals who would spice it up with prize money. He added that all teams going into the playoffs should adhere to the Covid protocols in place.

Playoffs are set to run till the 6th of March before a brief break ahead of the preseason games on 22nd March. The 2022 season will then begin on the 29th of March.

Defending Champions of the Men’s Premier league, Ulinzi, are in training camp already. The Warriors who bagged the number one seed will face off with Kisumu-based Lakeside in the first round.This is a matchup to look forward to considering Ulinzi recorded a loss in Kisumu during the regular season. Ulinzi’s coach Balozi is confident that his team will give a great show and retain the title. The
Warriors captain, Eric Mutoro, added,

”We have been to a lot tougher competitions in the course of last year which served as a good learning experience.”

He said that his team is headed into the playoffs with a whole new mindset, taking one game at a time. Their longtime nemesis, the Dockers, on the other hand through their team captain, Victor Odendo, asserted that the team is ready to face any team.

The ladies’ camp is equally as promising. Vilma Awino, KPA ladies basketball captain, expressed absolute trust in her team winning the championship.

The Doctor’s Report wishes all ballers headed into the playoffs in their respective leagues an eventful and fun time.
