KCB women’s volleyball team has intensified training and preparations ahead of the Kenya Volleyball Federation league and the African Club Championships.
The women’s league is set to resume early next month while the African Club Championships will be played from May 19th to June 1st in Tunis, where Kenya will be represented by KCB, reigning Champions Kenya Prisons, and Kenya Pipeline.
Speaking exclusively to the Doctor’s Report, outside hitter Mercy Moim believes her team is ready for the league’s return even amidst the uncertainty surrounding the fixture schedule.
“Despite us not knowing when or who we will play, we have been training hard and playing friendly matches to keep fit. We recently played prisons, which was a good outing for us.”
“Every opponent has a different style of play so to prepare well, we ought to know who we are facing. Though the team is ready for the coming competitions, every player is psyched up and working, bearing in mind every person has a chance to play,” added Team Captain Edith Wisa,
who believes the team has what it takes to claim major titles both locally and internationally.
KCB came close last year, coming second after their arch-rivals Kenya prisons triumphed in that campaign. They lost to the star-studded side in a riveting match at the Makande Indoor gymnasium.
