Kenya Ports Authority teams dominated in just concluded tour of the city, the Dockers came into town gun blazing and managed to take home four crucial wins.
The Women team who now operates at full strength with the addition of Nigerian Ifunanya Okoro and returning shooting guard veteran Hilda Indasi, are the hottest team in the league. They ended their weekend beating KU Oryx 79-16 on Saturday and managed to quell the Storms on Sunday with a 72-15 win. KPA women showed their immense depth and if they continue playing like that, defending their championship will be a walk in the park.

The men on the other side had their hame against KU disrupted due to bad weather conditions. They returned to work on Sunday against their nemesis Ulinzi Warriors, a game that was played at the newly opened Ulinzi Sports Complex. KPA emerged the winners with a 64-52 win to stamp their authority as the team to beat in the league. Head coach Sammy Kiki was full of praise for his team performance and he expects the squad to defend their championship this season.

“The win has built confidence and unity in the team, beating Ulinzi at their own court is not easy. The team displayed great defence and our offence was equally good, we would have won by a bigger margin if we had converted our missed chances. The way forward for now is to take one game at a time until the regular season is over, our aim is to have a clean record in the 2nd Leg, we are still going to work on areas that we are not doing very good” He added

The Dockers return home in Mombasa on the 8th where they will be facing another uphill battle. The women will be squaring up against Equity Bank Hawks and Eagle Wings Basketball Team, while the Men will play against Equity Dumas and Umoja basketball team. This is another spicy matchup that may shape the positioning in the league, follow us for more basketball information.
